Share this as much as you can everyone. This fucking rat needs to be dealt with. This is my friends kayak.
KAYAK STOLEN - LOCK CUT 4/28/21
Don’t buy this kayak!
It was stolen at Stillwater Cove on the Sonoma coast while locked to a bench. Cable lock was cut.
Model;
2017 Ocean Kayak - Trident 13 fishing kayak.

Color;
grey/black/white

Serial Number stamped on stern;
XTC392921617

Description and identifying marks;
Black crate with rod holders attached to rear well.
Small compass mounted on center console.

My last name “COLWELL” written in black sharpie on port side (L) stern, now faded black lettering.
Blue “Clavey Paddlesports” decal on (R) starboard bow.

Doubt I’ll ever see it again, but if anyone sees this yak turn up in an online CL ad or on a FB fishing group, please notify me and or the Sonoma County Sheriff at their dispatch number; 707-565-2121
Sonoma County Sheriff has a case file going;
Sonoma County Sherrif
Case #, 210429002
Officer Jeremy Lyle

ps - lesson learned. Locks don’t stop thieves. Don’t leave gear visible when loading/unloading.
I’m looking for a new / used fishing kayak, willing to travel - Crescent City to Sonoma County.

Brother sorry to hear about your friends yak!  That sucks.  Lets hope they get chomp from the Landlord to make up for their stupidity.

That sucks :smt013.  Was it left in the picnic area overnight?  I've never heard of anyone having a theft problem at SWN, that's f-ed up.

Also, I stopped trusting any lock after watching LockPickingLawyer on youtube.  He shows people how pretty much any lock is an illusion of security that can be defeated in seconds...

Never heard of a theft problem at Stillwater?  Within striking range of Ocean Cove.

Bummer  :smt009

If it was left at the picnic table by the launch while they camped that’s a long way away to trust any lock to keep your gear safe. Locks will keep an honest person honest, but if somebody wants your stuff a lock won’t stop them if nobody is around to notice them disabling the lock.

you might check with the ranger in that area he might have cut it off and taken it if it was locked to a public bench in a public area

Sorry to hear. I'm always paranoid when I leave my kayak on my car overnight even in a gated area where I live. I sincerely hope he gets out back. The kayak is distinctive enough to be spotted.
I'm thinking of getting the FPV kayak alarm that triggers when the kayak is moved or jostled.
