 Hey NCKA
As some of you may know I’m coming off a meniscus/ACL repair and am ready to test my knee and hit the salt of somekind.
I have a day open Fri 4/30 , and ARW has a simple launch vs North of Jenner. I’m more of a Ling/Rickfish guy but have been to ARW and caught Butts there.
I need a little schoolin on what are “good tides” for halibut.
On that day we start with a high of
7.2@2:23am
-1.3@9:30am
5.4@4:36pm
To me that is a pretty big tide swing of 8+ft.
Now actual fishing time is approximately 7-8am-12-1pm so  the low is right between that and I bet that’s important? But I do not know...
Then if you really want to get deeper you got Coefficient and Amplitude?
Hhmmm...
Would these tides be considered “good tides”?
Don’t know if I want to make the effort to hit Alameda or may go to Lake Sonoma for Steelhead / Bass...

But I really want a Butt :smt006

Thanks

2 hrs before the bottom and 2 hours after could be feeding time, problem might be water clarity.  Remedy would be flasher and/or live bait.  Keep it on the bottom and hit a hali on the head and boom, 20lber on da stringah'.  Other than that I'm skunk master so far.  If that's the day you can fish and that's where ya' wanna be than go for it.  Hope you slay... :smt006

Smaller tide swings are usually considered more favorable for halibut. The currents associated with negative tides muddy the water up and cause halibut to hunker down rather than be out actively searching for food. Sturgeon on the other hand. As Eddie said, your window should be when the current is slower right on either side of the low.

Wherever you go, hope you find some fish.
