Ive been getting in a few hours each evening on the southend and taking 10-12 fish with maybe one over 3, maybe. The bloom is just about right for vis but its the time of year that my shallow water haunts are gone and I have to relearn the lake. Ive been casting tight to the edges, parallel the shoreline, and into open water and having about equal success. Tonight I had them on the crank bait and senkos on the edges.
What made tonight different was that last week my friend/bartender from Richmund park, confesses to me that at the age of 58 he had never been fishing. Tonight I put him in my T140, while I became better aquainted with the mini-x, and off we went. Tom was great, took him to some protected open water and showed him how to cast and he pulled it off first sling. Gave him a quick rundown on the senko and then we moved into the hunting grounds. First cast, his line bolts, and its on.  "I GOT ONE!!"  Of course a short time after he got a heavy dose of the complications of trying to manage a kayak and a fishing operation in the wind. Anyway he had a great time and got 3 LM into the boat.
As far as a report goes, the lake is consistant and of course more so in the AM and late. Everything is working but the topwater seems to have slowed. Im still seeing alot of surface action but its a mix of carp, cats, bass, and otters. I just dont commit to the frog enough. Earlier in the week there was a shadsplosion but it seems that it passed. The late mornings are hot and flat and the breeze in the evening has been challenging even after dark. Go early. Unfortunately tommorrow Im scheduled for a hot stone massage after my swim and wont be able to get on the water until after 5.

Wish i went there instead of Blue lake, funny thing,

The wind was kicking the whole time I was @ Blue lake, when I left, I took a tour of Lakeport...

  Clear Lake was Glass

I figured the way Blue Lake was, Clear lake would be 4' swells,

I almost Got to call you and your Bird!!!!

This Punk kid was on a skateboard on the dock @ blue lake hanging onto this rail.....

I say to him kindly, " Your probably going to fall in if you keep doing that ".....

 Punk replies  :smt019 " I know What I'm Doinggggg Whaaa.....!!!!  " Splash!!!!

Dumb ass goes right off the dock, miss hitting the back of his head on the dock by milimeters, and then

somehow misses these metal poles that are sticking up from the lake bottom that would have impailed

him nicley :tool:........

Lucky Punk says ....  " I meant to do that, and It's not my skateboard so I don't care "

Why could'nt he had just broken an arm, finger...something!!!!

Love to Come up there and hit the lake with ya soon .......... Danglin

Great Pic, Terry.

Danglin - You really wish some kid would've broken his arm, or been impaled by metal bars, just 'cause he was skating on the dock?

Sorry to hear that you didnt have a good exp at Blue Lakes.  I know how that lake can get midday though. The winds come ripping through that canyon. Great place to swim and even better for LMs in the evening.  Let me know the next time you want to come to the land of the lost and Ill put you and the boys onto some fish on C-lake.
One of the things that I knew would be a challenge for me when I moved up here was the quality of SOME of the natives. Idiocracy is in full effect up here but its trying to evolve.
I just keep reminding myself that there is reason my employer put its business up here. They thrive in the lands of the ignorant and self destructive. Im here for the fishing.

Almost forgot,
Adam, thanks for the Richmund Park love. The place is thriving right now AND has some really big fish hanging out under the kitchen/docks. I spoke with the owners about a possible fishing tourney being staged on their beach (that is larger than when you and Juan were here in the spring) and they were all for it.
Im still waiting for a pinball rematch and we both know the NFL season is right around the corner.
"The Park" is a churning cauldron of raider nation on sundays and they could use your support.
Go Seahawks!

 headed over there now.

The wind was again a factor tonight but it felt great. CCR was playing at Konocti so I fished that side of the bay for awhile. Seemed the appropriate them music for bass fishing. Another evening of average size bass, but everything was taken tight to the reeds and tullies. Took fish with a short rig carolina salamander, 1 on a rip bait, and of course the wacky senko. the salamander and senko were both in the flavor of the week and is fast becoming my late evening favorite. The winds continued to make things challenging even after dark. If the water was flat Id commit to the frog but for now Im sticking with the soft plastics in the hunting grounds. Hunger brought me off the water and back to "the Park" where there was a frosty 3, and the french dip/swiss that became the evenings final victims.
