Are large saltwater spinning reels useful?

Doing some spring cleaning and I’ve run across a few large saltwater spinning reels that I never found a use for.

Even “intermediate” spinners like the Penn 710 or Mitchell 306 seem plenty large enough for surf stripers or throwing crab snares... and on the kayak conventional gear seems to make more sense.

Are the larger spinning reels such as Mitchell 302 Saltwater useful for anything on our waters?

Casting Snares buts a lot of stress on line.  I have seen people advice using 50lb on theirs.  I prefer mono for casting, not as hard on the fingers or wallet.
