Hey guys!

Feels like in the bay area we've had a solid month of small craft advisories on the coast - so much for my crabbing dreams! To top that off, now that the swells are dying down we are getting this crazy wind!

I'm hunting around for either:
-Inland spots that have low enough wind to still be nice
-Potentially protected bays/lagoons with the same?

Was thinking about a day trip to Bolinas lagoon for some crabbing.

Anyone thinking about going out this weekend?  I'm super flexible, just hoping to get out on the water and wouldn't mind some company/ideas of where to launch.

I use an app called FishWeather. You can choose a spot on the map and get a forecast of the wind.

PS: You might want to get some more time on the water before you load your kayak with a bunch of gear, ropes and traps and try your luck crabbing.

I second that motion.  This week is a write off for kayaking the ocean.

Go paddle up Putah Creek at Berryessa. You can't miss the birds. There is bait under those birds.

If you go to Bolinas Lagoon make sure you check out the tides.  It gets pretty low during low tide with lots of super shallow areas to get stuck in.  I had some luck in December for Dungees just to the right side of the mouth of the lagoon where the water flows in.  Only 5-10 feet deep if that.  As far as launching, anywhere you can get in and out without getting stuck in mud.  I saw a Youtube video of a guy launching just off the rocks at the end of the wall of the jetty.  Watch the tide though because it gets strong flow, especially during a high tidal coefficient.  Good luck.
