RIP.

Man, I've always had massive respect for Tbay. In the 90s I participated in a bunch of sea kayak tours across that place and saw it go from nice to rough quick.
Back then I never even considered getting a kayak without taking classes on all the aspects of the activity, but then again, I hardly knew anyone who knew anything about kayaks except for the BASK community which was kind of like NCKA in terms of safety etc.
It's an entirely different world out here now. Be safe folks.

So sad. ☹️
Being very experienced with TB, I agree with what has been said. The bay can go from calm to OMG in minutes. Please watch the wind reports and get off the water before wind is predicted. TB is very long and straight, making it an ideal wind tunnel. Also, given that this huge amount of water must go through a very narrow opening at Lawson landing, the current is formidable and combined with wind, it can be near impossible to cross if both are against you.
Be safe my friends!
