Going to have to clean up some corrosion. spool's corroded threw the chrome. Going to find out what model it is. I suspect it is a 9/0 or larger. thing is a winch to mount on a pole! Alan Tani, I might need a tutorial for this bad boy. looks like it is spooled 4" deep with 100+ lb mono. Very cool reel that works great! It looks like this one on Ebay. Mine has a custom or larger factory handle and arm     https://www.ebay.com/itm/Penn-Senator-Vintage-14-0/114346119513?_trkparms=aid%3D888008%26algo%3DDISC.CARDS%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D225085%26meid%3Deb88f534d0a44045b74324e69693ac35%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26sd%3D352800439495%26itm%3D114346119513%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DDiscV1%26brand%3DPenn&_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

9/0's are some big ass reels.  Alan does have a tutorial for the big un's. There is also some bad ass kits for those reels to knock them out of the park.  Check the forum on those.

You might look at getting the spool powder coated if it is salvageable. Not sure if anyone make an aluminum one for those old huge reels.

116 #  Spool will cost 100.00 + If you find one.  I have a pair of 14/0 s and a 16/0 and lots of older Coxe reels made in L.A.

Sorry I took so long to respond. Alan Tani can be found on AlanTani.com, he is about to switch to a new site. I read something on FB from him about the provider  not living up to their end.

Long story short Godaddy is forcing him to register as a business because his traffic volume is so large and they don't what to honor his grandfathered in plan anymore.  He should have it up by end of week per a FB post he made.

Not sure what the spool is made of but if its metal you can sandplast and rechrome it.  if its aluminum (and machined) you can anodize it to protect it.  If you just need a new spool, you may be able to find a machine shop who would turn one for you out of what ever material you want.

One of the things Alan and others talk about is the straightness of the spool.  Some spools were multi pieced welded together. I imagine the large Penn's would try to avoid that as they would have more stress.

Some places for upgrades if you like a challenge: https://www.cortezconversions.com/product-page/penn-senator-9-0-115-reel-frame

http://smoothdrag.com/

https://supertunereels.com/2017/03/02/tanked-penn-115-90-fishing-reel/

Pro Challenger LLC has a SS gear set for 115/9.0's, that I suspect is the bomb!  Love their stuff. I have their stuff on a few different reels, and their stuff works well.  There is a guy on Alan's site that has been able to convert your old 3 drags set up to a five drag set up, and five drags to seven. Increasing the amount of drag you can apply.
