Home built downrigger weight

I put together a couple downrigger weights recently and have been using them quite successfully so I figured I'd post up maybe it would help someone else.
I split a piece of 2" PVC and heated it up till I could flatten it out. Then cut out the shape with my band saw. The lead was poured into a muffin pan I use for lead ingots.  I used two ingots and drilled a hole through center of both and ran a bolt through the pvc . I hooked up my release and basically it works as good as any weight I've used but cost was maybe two bucks.

Neat idea!  About how much do the "muffin weights" weigh at that size?  Looks like the pans were about half full?

This one was poured half full gives me about 3 pounds. I run it down on 65# power pro and easily get 60' down and up to 2.5 mph and  remain under my boat and visible on my finder. Haven't needed to try deeper so im not sure how far down I can go.

I've been thinking of DIYing a downrigger with a giant Albey reel I found and the butt of an old rod..was wondering about how heavy the weight needs to be to stay on the FF at around 2.5mph.  Perfect info!
