It's my first winter fishing on the kayak for me.
Just curious what do y'all do when RGC is closed? Crabs? Try for Winter halibut? Go for freshwater? or just bicker here until April?

Mostly bicker.  Not sure whats around your area in winter, but if you're sticking to salt the perch fishing is pretty good winter through spring round here.

Steelhead, Sturgeon, Trout, Bass, Panfish, Perch...

Basically I fish for whatever is still in season or biting. For me I don’t go out on the open ocean for much fishing until RCG and salmon opens back up.

How unlikely is a winter halibut?  I'm just curious cause i just got my kayak and I live in Alameda, so I've been wondering if its worth it at all to try?

From what I have heard.. the winter halibut is pretty tricky. I know of two caught since like November. Trout and Perch are what I change gears too. I also just take a break, I fish pretty hard all year and this is kind of my kickback time.

I plan to hit the beach for some crab on snares. Maybe stretch and bounce on the legs to keep the juice flowing. PLus, this December weather has been hard to beat.

Mostly bicker.

This!

Usually it's started by now, but the usual suspects seem to be slacking off this year.
