Yeh Boy!!!!!  Finally Gots' A Good One!!!

Launched @ 8:00 a.m. to see Littoral (Greg) heading North to the promised land.  Fishing was SSSLLLOOOOWWWWW!!!

We tried inside, we tried outside, I tried 3 different jigs & nothing.  I literally boated 1 small yellow in 1.5 hours.  Conditions were picture perfect, hardly any swell, ocean was sheet-glass.  Water clarity was off the chart, I could see my jigs at least 30 feet down.

Several times my squid-tipped swimbaits were surrounded by schools of 10-15 blues with olives zipping thru.  None of them were striking-it was very frustrating to see so many fish, so close & nothing.  Not even a measly blue.

We moved to another zone where some good ones have been bagged, Rustic Andy's 28" fat Ling.

Again slow, next to no bites.  I went out another 1/4 mile to check deep water & again nothing, not even a bite.

I came back, & 20 feet from Greg, hooked a lunker.  Pretty much zero fight in this fish-the thing went down once then rolled over & played dead.  Was stoked to see the size on him 31" inches & FATTTT!!!!

Greg, sorry I took what could've been your fish-but hey, what can you do, i've been struggling for a while!!!!  Good to fish w/ you we'll hook up again!!!

congrats on the nice one! too bad it didn't fight, seen that on some big blue lings. what is up with that?

maybe it's just you need one small 3"-4" offering along with the 5"-7" one to get the blues to bite?

a bunch of times this year I have had fish on a shrimpfly type thing and once there's a fish on that some brave
blue or brown or black (or yes, the underlings) will pop the remaining bigger lure for a double.

but it seems like I needed that small offering to get them going.

At least one of us got a keeper. Tiny rockies seemed to be all I could find.

I stuck around for another hour inside yeilding even more tiny rockies... Sucks to be me today.

Nice catch PJ.

Beautiful ling. Saw you guys out there on a morning walk with my wife. Couldn't get out because I was entertaining friends.
