Thanks all for the great input. Lots of info that’s all very helpful. Seems like the biggest take away from this is that more is always better in terms of security. Thanks!

I am getting ready to buy an outback. I have a Tahoe and think it will be difficult to lift the kayak on top due to age and other odds and ends.
I would like to be able to manage the kayak by myself, and of course the default is a trailer.
Anybody have experience with rhino-rack nautical Kayak lifter, Thule hull -aviator, or Yakima lifter, or better yet does anyone have one that could demonstrate how it works in real life.
Thanks

I have been using Thule Hullavator and happy with its performance.  You can watch the following video, demonstrating 80 years old lady loading a kayak using a Hullavator.
