If anyone is interested, Tom (www.hulicat.com) is running for Tuna tomorrow.  Cost is $250 and he is leaving at 4:00am from Pillar Point.  If you are interested call him at 650.619.0459 (boat cell).  I'll be there with a friend.  The warm water is here and there is Tuna in our backyard.  Let me warn you about Tuna Fishing.  It is the Heroin of the sport, so be warned.  It hasn't been wide open because of all the boats fishing for them but Tom does a great job staying away from the crowds and he is a fair man and will cancel the trip if the weather is bad.

Good luck, Luis.

Hope you are nailing them right now.

I plan on going on Wed.

It was a good day with the weather improving as the day went on.  Nothing like a tuna rush.  We even caught 1 yellowtail and a spanish mackrel.  The water temp. went up to 61 degrees.

Isda,

Saw the report on the Coastside Board.  14 albies, 1 yellowtail and a spanish mack for 10 guys.  I amy not go on Wed.  I will probably wait for better scores.  Unless, the boats on Monday really nail them.  Capt Tom said it was still a troll bite.  Still have a long season in front of us.

Ken,

This may be it for the year so don't wait to long.  The Albies have been spotty the last couple of years and only showed up briefly.  I think they may stay longer but probably not the big schools of 4 years ago.

To be honest with you Capt. Tom is a troll only expert.  I was the one who caught the only fish on the slide.  I've been on the Hulicat for tuna many times and he has never once brought bait.  If you want the full treatment, the best boat to ride when the Albacore are in big schools is Robert Galia.  Yes, Robert on the El Dorado who is also the best Salmon charter boat to me.  Robert uses a 3 stage chumming system that is second to none in NorCal.  He copied it from several boats in San Diego and it works.  Here is a shot of one of my best trips with Robert on the El Dorado.  This was a 200+ fish day for 15 people, an epic trip!

Isda,

I really think it is going to be a good year.  The signs are the DoDos and Yellowtails.  There maybe a Marlin on a sportboat this year.  When it gets hot the boats don't even troll anymore.  The mark Albies with the bait balls or breezer or jumpers.  Then it is 25 to 30 lbs test.  Some guys go down to 15 lb.  Albies run in groups of good years and bad years.  Wait until you have around 20 on the dock and you are just giving them away because you did not bring that many coolers.
