Did you lose a pot on the Marin coast last season with the line still coiled inside it? Lots of marine growth so it was in the water a while but might still be usable. The line was connected to the harness with a rock climbing carabiner. Describe the rest of the rigging and modification details and it is yours.

No ID on the buoy?

No buoy. If there was one in the trap it presumably broke free and escaped. No tags or other identification either.

Is there an interesting story around how you came into possession of said marine habitat trap?

Not really, aside from the fact that I had been meaning to buy one, and then rolled up to find it right where I was going to park. Someone else had pulled it out of the water and left it. Presumably it was too big to fit in the trash can and/or they didn't want to deal with the smell.
