I usually go out on the Queen of Hearts out of Pillar Point (HMB).  Things are more expensive with COVID-19 because of social distancing onboard, but that is worth the cost to me since you have fewer people to deal with on board.

Go out of Emeryville, get on the Seawolf, or the New Huck Finn.

California Dawn is great ppl, they have a galley but they're the slowest boat out of emeryville, and if you're going on a crab combo you wana get out to the faralons faster than 3 hours.

Sea Wolf has always had live anchovies when I went fishing with them, the deckhands are amazing, captain gives good information when he puts you on the fish, and no matter what, they're always trying to get 2 lings per person unlike a lot of charter boats finding schools of small blues half way down the water column and leaving when the limit of RF is hit.

new Huck fin is also just an amazing crew, great captain, fast boat.

I'm a fan of the Queen of Hearts (HMB) and the Seawolf (Emoryville).

I took a bunch of cub scouts and parents on the Queen last December for a crab+fish trip.  Great crew.  Half the attendees learned that they get violently sea sick even with Dramamine.  Learning experience!

Make sure you load up your coworkers with whatever seasickness meds are possible.  Lots of people have no idea that their systems don't like the ocean.  :smt002

Lovely Martha does a good job in SF. they validate parking in a nearby lot.  I haven't gone out on rock/crab but got my limits on I think all the butt/striper trips.

all the charters are about 2x the usual price these days.  seems they need to make up for covid related lost time.

Might as well go on a private charter, same price.  Big C's out of Fort Baker, the captain, Christian, is top notch and he is a crabber too, so he knows the crab grounds very well.  Do a halibut/crab combo, see if he is willing :)   The North Bar seems to produce very well, the crab ground is nearby.

One thing I noticed is the Capt Bob (Queen of Hearts) doesn’t like shutting the engine off compare to other charters we’ve been to, thus adding to that nauseating diesel fumes.

Bob has not run the boat in months, due to health.

+10.  I've chartered Ty about once a month this summer.  Good times!  In fact, I have him booked on Nov 15 for a crab/rockfish combo, a prime weekend day shortly after the opener.   :smt004

I think he takes 6 on the bigger boat.  In fact, just checked his website and it states groups up to 6.
