It's nothing over the top, but I used to go to the Walnut Ave cafe a lot when I was in Santa Cruz. Always hit the spot. There might be more "special" places out there though

There is a new Hawaiian restaurant on the wharf in Santa Cruz. Food was really good when I went last month. Decor inside looked good from a distance as we were not able to eat inside.

Makai Island Kitchen and Groggery

Was going to recommend Giilda's on the SC wharf, but a friend who lives there informed me it is permanently closed. Bummer. It was really good. Great view too.
