Hi y’all-
I’ve been shooting a recurve on a range for a few years, and would like to start shooting a compound with the goal of learning to harvest game.

Anyone have a decent entry + level setup that I can get comfortable shooting and (if I get fortunate) take deer with? I know it’s a long shot, but I would ideally not spend more than $350, which might not be realistic.

Open to any suggestions too,

Aloha,

Isao

What’s your draw length?

Recurves kill deer just fine. Don't go to the dark side.
I got an old Mathews prolly out of your price range.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

Recurves result in a whole lot of maimed animals. You can get just as close with a compound bow if you want to challenge yourself without using an inferior weapon at the animal's expense.

I've got a right-handed Bear Wild set at 28.5" draw if you're interested. It has a lower end Trophy Ridge 5-pin sight (the Joker, IIRC), Rip Cord drop-away rest (Code Red, IIRC), and unknown quiver. It's been heavily used and I've killed a mess of animals with it. The draw weight maxes out at just over 60# with the current string (read: slowww), but with good heavy arrows and appropriate broadheads that doesn't really matter.
