Just to follow up, I submitted a warranty claim through CCK and Hobie agreed to send a new pedal. Thanks to Keith and Sou at CCK for helping me with this and thanks FishingAddict and Fishbushing for suggesting to submit a warranty claim. I didn't think about that because I bought it used. In the end I did not try to fix it just in case I needed it for the warranty claim, I didn't.
Good thing you got a paddle. :smt005  No excuses, show us that stringer!   :smt006

I didn't have to resort to my paddle yak because I borrowed the drive off of my son's outback. Fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you look at it he couldn't come with me anyway because of school commitments.

Speaking of my paddle yak, I am thinking of dusting it off to take out crabbing on less than ideal days at LM. I tried to go out last week with Lior but the surf was too much for my comfort with the loaded outback. It would have been fine for my tarpon. My only hesitation is that I partially tore my common extensor tendon paddling awhile ago and I don't want to make it worse. I'll never keep up with you on my paddle kayak again Eddie.

“I’m going fishing.”  They said, “we will go with you.”
