I'm interested to know how you guys take care of your kayak pedals after a long day of fishing. Besides rinsing them thoroughly with fresh water, what else should I be doing to ensure that they last?

Yup good link.

Each year in the winter time, I follow the steps in that video and do a full disassemble, clean, and reassemble of the drive. I use Yamaha marine grease on all the moving nylon bearings during reassembly but don’t re-lube during the year. It’s good stuff. Still going strong after being in the salt once a week this season. The metal parts get a coating of reel-X, a corrosion resistant lubricant made by corrosion x. Make sure you get the connection points of the exposed cable too, not just the chain links, as these exposed areas are prone to corrosion.

Other than, a good fresh water rinse after each use and a full dry cycle in the shade. I check cable and pulley tension and mast pins before/after each session and make sure all looks good.

I have 2 GT drives. I’ve replaced the delrin bearings with nylon—no grease or lube of any kind, and no squeaks, ever!

I rinse after each use and visually inspect before each use. I take them apart once per year.
