I’m a complete rookie at this.  Not only are my kayak skills suspect, I can’t catch fish either. :)

I do love exploring. I’ve tried Lake Benoist at Riverfront Regional park several times. Caught a few small bass. Not even worth the photograph.   Lake Benoist is a slight trek.  Once there, your launching into the water off a tiny goat trail.   The easier launch areas have always had a family fishing from them.  This leaves the less desirable places to put in.  And pull out.

This is my first kayak.  I assume scratches are part of the charm?    I still tilt my boat to get the Hobie-cart inserted. More scratches.

FountainGrove lake is much easier to launch from (better fish too!).     I hope to hit bigger waters soon.  Moving on to Lake Sonoma and Berryessa, soon.  Then the Delta!

So quit worrying about scratches?

Scratches are normal for kayaks.  Think of them as battle scars  :smt003

Somebody posted a neat video on using the bungees to suck up the hobie cart into the scupper holes. It lessens side scratches. But yes scratches are part of the game.

If you are looking for company at a local lake let me know.

Anytime.  I’ll try Fountaingrove Sunday hopefully. They are still hitting finesse presentations.

I scratch my kayak here and there but so glad I don’t have to worry about it being in perfect condition.
