Santa Cruz harbor to Lighthouse - big rockies but no flatties

Went out from the SC harbor around 11 AM and headed out to 50-60 FOW. Trolled squid toward the lighthouse in search of halibut. When I got near the lighthouse in 57 FOW, the rockfish bite was on. Caught and released 4 nice blues, and then hooked into a large vermillion and kept that one. It fed three people at a barbecue; not bad for a rockfish.

While I was out there, a couple of boats reported catching halibut. At the cleaning station, a PB guy was cleaning a nice salmon. He said he caught it at Moss, where there was quite a whale show today. He said the salmon were only a few hundred yards offshore, and there were kayak fishermen out there. I wonder if any kayakers got a salmon today?
