met up with prowlingnorcal, ken and later gelbyak.  Nice to meet all of you.  After a graceful launch :smt005 bait was picked up at S Dock and we headed out with high hopes.  The harbor is full of bait and they are running motors to oxygenate the water.

prowlingnorcal (Kim) was marking all kinds of fish and bait, but none were interested in our offerings.  I couldnt even sabiki bait, and gelbyak had the same issues later.

Kim headed in, followed by Ken.  Gelbyak showed up with the sailboats and we tried a few more drifts.  I ended with 5 medium brown rockies but still not flatty.

on a side note, when we landed, a guy launching a hobie cat sail, and a guy in a really cool looking retro SIT were asking if we heard about the bean hollow shark attack.  So its official, everyone will now remind of you sharks for at least a year!

I was out there but must have missed all of you. I launched next to Aldo's at about 6am. I paddled up north of the lighthouse. Same story with the bait for me. I had a steady pick of medium rockfish and one 22" underling. Kept one 15" blue RF for supper and called it a day at 10:30. Bummer of the day was that I lost my sailcloth hat somewhere in the kelp :smt010

well, good tries, at least you got some rockfish fun.

the 'chovies won't bite the sabiki inside the harbour or outside or both?

did you use the super smallest sabiki, the one with 3lb branch and 5lb main?

1 school of mackerel + 1 sabiki rig = 1 full bait tube...
Nope! Simply embarrassing. I've never seen 'em pass up the offering. I choose to believe that they were anorexic.

Thanks for letting me fish with you, Eugene. Good times.

Jmairey,

I was using the super small sabiki outside the harbor, I think they are the size 12 hooks.  I should have tried in the harbor but I only tried outside when I was fishing.

bummer on the hat Piscean, another offer to the fishing gods!  We started out late from the "not aldos" launch and headed towards blacks point.

nice fishing with you all, lets hope the halibut cooperate next time!
