Well I have a new kayak and a new Lowrance Hook 7 reveal with downscan. Is there any down side to mounting through hull style? Does it effect the down scan image? My old kayak had the ducer glued up into the recess on the bottom of the kayak. Really was very durable. I want a durable option that requires as little as possible issues. The scupper style mounts all seem to come loose or break. What is the preferred method with the newer imaging transducers?

Use Goop or marine goop.  it's the same as far as I can tell.  Just make sure the kayak is on a flat surface or the transducer might slide before finally setting, so check it 5 - 10 min after you set it to make sure it's setting in the right location.

As long as your transducer does not have side scan you can mount it In-Hull with goop. I used Lexel, and it worked great but it dries very slow.

Did you guys just use the goop? Or use a foam cutout as well?
