I hit the lake at about 0630 hours and headed to the South side of the island near the South boar ramp. When I arrived, I started "draggin' hog" in water between 7 and 20 feet. I landed 3 nice size smallmouth bass and one dink largemouth. I was off the water at 1000 hours, just as the PB's started arriving.

This is how I "drag hog". I used a standard bass style hook and rig the "hog" weedless. I put a small splitshot weight on the line just at the nose of the "hog". I cast out and wait for the "hog" to reach the bottom. I make a slow paddle for a few yards with my bail open to allow the line to come out. I then close the bail and place the rod in the holder. Next I paddle real slooooooooow and watch the tip of the rod as the "hog" bounces off the bottom. The bass hook themselves. All you have to do it set the hook before you reel.

CHEERS!
