Hi Yakers:

Alex is letting me use his Scupper Classic and, I plan on going to Paradise Pt. I would like to hookup with someone who has Electronics (VHF, FF) because, it's safer and it would increase our catch average. I will share my catch.

Just (9:30 7/26 )got back from a walk along Pleasure Point/Opal Cliffs: good vis under overcast, a little (3-5 ?) breeze, ripples on the water, pretty small surf going down from yesterday, expected to be less tomorrow, quite launchable at Capitola wharf area today. Weather's supposed to be about the same for a few days.
I think I'll launch Friday 7/27/07 from the west side of Capitola and head out and up toward Pleasure Pt along the kelp, drift for flatties, troll for whatever.  But it ain't goin' to be no 5 am, more like 6:30-7, and land about noon.  I'll have FF,GPS, radio, but hardly need those there. Hope to see you. I did the harbor the other day, want to go the other way this time.

Hi Tom:

I'll see you at the Kelp Beds. I need to start early because of the Distance and I'll need to make bait. Too bad I don't have a bait net, the anchovies are all over the place.
I have never done the Cap. route and, not sure of the parking. I saw your Intel. on launching at Cap. and, will do a dry run when I finish.
I don't have wheels so porting may burn me out.
                                              Good Luck

I park on Prospect above the RR  tracks, load up on my Rolleez and roll down and back up.  You can easily drop off for launch, I just like not having to drive down to pick up, leaving my yak on the beach.  Hope to see you.

I have done the Capitola launch several times and each time I say I am never doing it again. It is a hassle at best; small parking and loading area and is almost always full and metered to boot. YOu have to leave all of your stuff there and park waaaay away and run back. The pier rats (some undesirables) there are not to be trusted and always makes me nervous to leave all my gear unattended. Same routine on the landing all over again. I feel the lauch from the harbor is easier and though it costs $6.00 it is well worth it to have your car right there, no sand all over, and peace of mind is $$$. THe distance on the paddle is virtually the same to get there from the harbor to the west tip of the kelp beds at P.P. the only thing to consider is the swell and wind which can work you on the way back to the harbor. If you see it coming time to start your paddle. Good luck I nailed my butt about 200 yards off sewer peak which is where they are doing all of the construction on the houses at the waters edge there, there may still be a crane there for reference.
