Obviously lithium is the way to go here. But what about using a jumper/booster style power supply? Anyone using one? How does it work for you? If not recommended then why?  Thanks in advance.

There are several folks online using them. They are nothing more than a lithium battery. Some have USB ports As well as 10A 12V  outputs. Just not sure how long they will last. I need a new jump box for work so might do a test.

Just curious, which specific battery are you referring?

I use a 1080MAH  that I got years ago at Costco.  It won't jumpstart my new vehicle.  But it runs my fishfinder all day. I recharge it when I'm done for the day.

I suggest that you first understand the difference between a starting battery and a deep cycle battery.  Then decide which battery type is best for you.

A deep cycle battery is designed to provide a steady amount of current over a long period of time. A deep cycle battery is also designed to be deeply discharged and charged over and over again without shortening the lifespan of the battery.

I've been using Lithuim type batteries almost 5 years and never had a problem for my Raymarine Dragonfly 7 FF.  I use both a LIPO and LiFePO4.  My FF draws 8 w at full brightness and using my LiFePO4 12V 12ah get appox 18hrs run time.
12 volt x 12 amp hr = 144 watt hr
144 watt hr / 8 watt = 18 hr
My good buddy Lucky13 helped out on the battery rigging.

I use some batteries i used for my RC planes back in the day I have 2 4s 5ah packs in parallel. Higher voltage means lower Amp draw and it lasts about 2 days with my Striker 4
