Napa & Sacramento June 19-27 Any Advice?

Hello everyone, I'm new here and I'm visiting NorCal for the first time to yak fish. I'll be staying about a week in and around Napa/Sacramento area. Can anyone shed some light on which spots I should go for great bass fishing? I'm also interested in trout and salt water for calis, spotties, flounder/halibut, or whatever keeps my lines tight. I literally am going to try and fish all 7 days. I've heard of Berryessa and Hennessey. Possibly the American River but I need help and advice of please to go. Any help is appreciated and I welcome anyone to join us.

Clear Lake


Sacramento area
the Delta
Folsom Lake
Rollins Lake (if it is open)

Collins Lake and Bullards Bar reservoir just outside of Marysville.

Berryessa and Hennessey are about it near Napa

Stripers are showing up in the Napa river system.
Good/Decent Bass fishing all over the Delta system.
Halibut are all over the SF Bay Area.

I'd take some time and research each county that you plan to fish for available kayak launching access.  Some counties have access only to local residents.  If you come down to Contra Costa county or the El Cerrito/Richmond area, then I can show you some halibut grounds.

Thanks Kevin. Can you give specific areas of the locations for bass in the delta and rivers? What bait is good? I've never fished stripers but would love to add a new species to my list. We can definitely meet up with you either on the 21st or 23rd. We're staying in Vacaville. Thanks!

Hi, my buddy and I fished the delta this morning. He had a hot bite on topwater in the am throwing deep in the tullies. I was throwing the senko all day.

Based on my friends early morning, sounds like I shouldve picked a more reactional bait. A far as my last few trips, the senko bite picked up towards the middle of the day as the day got hotter and right as the tide starts to really transition. Sure enough, the senko prevails last hour and finds where they stack up!

Marinas that I know that are open- Russos, Sugar Barge, and Rivers End. If you get in before they open, bring cash and drop it off in the slip.

Thanks Patrick. Were you fishing for stripers in the delta or LMB? What are you looking for when you go out - boils, birds, convergence? Say we launch at Russo's, how far out do we have to go? Is there a particular spot I'm looking for? Delta looks to be a very different type of fishing than I'm used to.

Hi Kevin, what sort of bait and tackle would I need for Halibut. I love the taste of these fish but have never caught that species. What days would be good for you?

Out of Russos you head east and north until you are out in the Tract. You can then just drift the tules south until you get down to the opening at Sugar barge. Throw frogs, spinner baits and senkos into the tules. You probably wont see many active feeding birds or boils

Thanks for the tips Pick. I'm looking at a map of the area where Russo's is. There's a large body of water to the east, is the the "tract"? It looks like Suger Barge is very close to Russo's, I'm assuming you're saying to paddle a relatively short distance from Russo's northward then head a little east beyond the fringe until it opens up into the "tract" then drift southward. See my picture attachment of Google earth.

What about fishing in the sloughs? Is that any good? And where can you launch from there?
