Hiya,
Funny naming sports or recreation. Sounds like I’m going to ride a Yak in Mongolia rodeo style or something.
“You Yak?”
No offense meant it can be a tough sport. That white water or ocean stuff? Um... no.
Anyway, I’m a noobie  to Kayaking at the ripe young age of 50. Have been told by my doc both knees no longer have cartilage and....here’s some pills.
Bah. Never been a pill guy I still have a full bottle that was six months ago. Hurts like a dickens and then some but I’ll be danged if I don’t stay in SOME kinda shape so I decided to try kayaking. A lifetime of sports on pavement will do that to a body. Wouldn’t trade a thing though.

So looking at our local Craigslist I came across a Lifetime Tamarak 100 for $175. I thought that was a good deal and the owner threw in a vest, kayak transport dolly and couple paddles to get me going.
Went downstairs to the local Barge canal access in West Sacramento to give it a try and barely made it er...one mile? That’s being generous I think. I made it to the end of the pier where the tug boats are. I was pooped.
It’s a start.
Anyway hopefully I can see some of you around one day looking forward to chatting and listening. A new direction for me now as running is done.
I’m thinking fishing gear. I’ve never been fishing either. Sigh, looks fun.
Cheers!

Brandon, I am from W.Sac.also. That kayak you got is perfect. It   will let you know if the sport is for you. Next it will let you know what features, and comforts your next kayak will have.

Thanks all for the welcome. Paul appreciate the offer.
Funny thing is I grew up on an Island and prefer lakes and rivers. Go figure. Hope to see you all out there one day. Wonder if this site has a sticker to slap on the KYak? FYI there is RV openings Northshore Campgrounds which I’ll be headed to next month. I know some of you are itching to get out and fish.

Cheers!

Edit: If you see a big white Ford F-250 with an USA flag display on the truck bed tailgate you’ll know it’s me.
