Firstly it seems rockfish opener is Friday May 1. I know DFG was meeting to discuss delaying various openers so does anyone know if the Mendocino Rockfish opener is still May 1st and is there any Intel regarding launching kayaks at the cove...thanks

I think it’s open to humboldt county residents. Is there still no coast access in Sonoma for so small residents?

What about undeveloped kayak launches.

I’m pretty positive the boat launchers at the cove will be operating, but you must be a humco resident and such.

Define undeveloped kayak launch ; if your taking about parking along HWY 1 you may receive a citation for at least $100 ,my neighbor did such , went out of SWN last week and was dinged with parking violation for $100
That’s what I mean. Thanks. Hopefully they’ll open it to Sonoma county residents soon.

There are no practical places to launch a yak for rockfish that I know of in Sonoma County other than the known coves be they county or state park. No parking near the water either. In effect. No fishing despite being OK to fish. Maybe find  a spot or two on the Russian far from  Jenner and run the bar and head north but that is a paddle marathon plus more excitement than one needs while exiting and entering the river outflow combined with incoming swell.

If I can’t go to the cove as a non local I reckon I may take a shot at the cape if the weather cooperates...can’t see authorities driving all the way out there to check my residency

I’d be more worried about locals vandalizing my car in either place than I would be about law enforcement. And I’m a Humboldt resident.

Aren’t there shad you could pull on in the russian until sonoma eases restrictions on the open spaces?
Don’t think the cape is going to cooperate in the near future weather wise anyways.
