Keep a journal.
I started one in 1996 and just came across it while going through some stuff.
Unfortunately I only had 3 entries; 6-17-96 Echo Lake, 6-24-96 Stumpy meadows, 7-1-96 West Fork of the Carson River.
My son was 4 years old. We did a ton of fishing together yet I specifically remember these three times.
Maybe because as I read it I am reminded of it? I don't know.
I do know that I wish I didn't stop.
How cool of a gift would that be to be able to hand a journal full of entries to your son or daughter as a gift when that have their first child?
Nice reminder that nothing more important to a child is the time you spend with them.

Very, Very Great idea, I did allot with my kids, but it's hard to pull out a memory without something the jog it, so for me this would as much for the parent as the child in later years.

My dad started one in 1980 when we began pier fishing each weekend we could.
Its an amazing thing to look back on those entries 40 years later.

excellent suggestion Tote.

What a fantastic find!!
Every year I print out a bunch of photos from our adventures and write notes on the back of them. I put some on a big 12 spot clipboard outside Henrys room and the rest get stashed away for later. Even at 7 YO he loves finding the pictures from last year and older and thinking about those adventures.

One of the most profound truths is that there is nearly nothing of greater value in the world than time and, for the most part, children are the only ones that have not forgotten this truth.

Smart idea

On the other side of that, I’m wishing like hell I had grilled my grandad and kept notes
