Hi friends...the Friday before the weekend lock down I was out on San Pablo Bay (1 mile off China Camp) in my Windrider 16 (kind of a sailing trimaran rig)....long story short...had rudder failure and got swamped by 5’ chop...had to call Coast Guard who graciously rescued me but unfortunately would not tow my boat in (I should have called Boat US tow! ... anyway... I have been searching for my boat along the shore of Highway 37 and between Pump House and the Marin shore line.  It is a 16 ‘ boat with a yellow sail..... If yo spot it please let me know!!!! Thanks
Matthew

Scary stuff! That happened to me years ago and the boat ended up off of Mare Island. Best of luck with recovery.

Yeah these boats can go really far.  Maybe give a call to Tow boat US and ask their advice?  they know the winds and tides really well.  sounds like CG wasn't that helpful (besides saving your life, that is.)  I lost tthree boats off the Santa Cruz wharf due to high waves.  got one that evening three miles away, and the other tow a week later 12-15 miles away.  but I knew which direction they were going.  In the bay, with the tides.....I'd be at a aloss I think.

Yikes! The bay can sure get nasty fast. I'm surprised the Coast Guard would just leave a derelict boat floating in the bay. Seems like that would be a navigation hazard to other boats and lead to other calls about a swamped boat.

Man, that sucks. Glad that you're safe and I'll keep an eye in on those limited trips were making out and about.
