Has anyone encountered these types of broken rivets with their Hobie kayak? This particular broken rivet is located on the seating apparatus anchored to the kayak. If so, how did you go about fixing it without contacting warranty?

I understand fixing the rivet is the option, but it seems as if this rivet is holding in a spring or pin. I'm assuming if I pull the rivet the spring or pin being held will displace.

Ah.. good old spring pin.. I usually replace them by hammering in a new pin while the old one is still in, this uses the new one to push out the old one and will be much less likely to have anything come dislodged internally

I figured to put a nail or pin of some sort  through the current rivet and sliding the new tubular rivet pin over that pin while pushing it through.

If not, I'll just be utilizing the Hobie warranty if that portion is covered. Lol

Looking again i agree that yours looks fine. Theres not supposed to be a head or anything on it. its just a pin and the holding force comes from the split in it, it expands in diameter to hold it in the hole

Gotttchaaaaa...I definitely have to go check one out in the store. It looks like at one time there was a rivet by the circular indentation left on the plastic. Anyone else on here with a 2019 outback can confirm?

Thank you. I'll contact hobie to play it safe or perhaps rundown to a local shop if I have some time and checkout the floor models.
