If you have one laying around, not in use and want to get rid of. Let me know.

Before you spend money on a Scotty laketroller, I would highly suggest you consider the Scotty 1050 and shorten the boom on it.  The laketroller is not worth the time, money and effort even if you get it for free.  It is a flimsy design and the braking method is all but useless.  It requires two hands to raise and lower them tighten to lock.  It can be done with a knee holding the spool while you use one hand to tighten or release it but it is a major pain in the ass especially when trying to raise it while trying to land a fish.   The 1050 allows one handed operation and has a much more usable handle.  When you raise the ball, the brake automatically disengages.  When you release the brake to drop it automatic stops when you let go.  It is a MUCH better option. I bought a laketroller because I though the smaller the better.  I used it a handful of times before I gave it away.  Useless in my opinion.

I've never used a laketroller deeper than 40 foot so I can see that getting really old really fast if you're going deeper. but It's really easy to operate with one hand.

I wanted a 1050 for every reason Grim stated but the lake troller was way easier to mount, quick to install and takes up no room, and is easy to stow when not in use.

Works fine one handed for me. I use a shuttle hawk to avoid bringing the weight up and down.

Different things work for different folks but for me this past salmon season my lake troller worked very well for salmon.  20-65 feet was the depth I used it at.  Avg was ~40.  4lb weight.

I thought about getting the 1050 but the lake troller is cheaper, easier to install, and no mod necessary.  I used it one handed and use my knee as a brake.  Scotty mount inside the right hand pocket of Revo 13 and my weight is visible on my FF with my transducer in the built in transducer hold so I can confirm the depth.

I'd love a modded 1050, but for price and ease of install I'm very happy with lake troller.

The 1050 is just as easy to mount as the laketroller.  I put mine just behind the front molded rod holders on my older model outback.  the newer models will work the same but you would mount it on the vertical wall inside of the pocket cutout.  I am not sure what other kayaks this mounting would work on but it should work on anything with a somewhat vertical inner wall and a small flat area on top of the gunnel.  Get the 1015 mount and bend the support bar about 15 degrees.  it is super simple. all you do is match it to the angle of the inner wall of the hull.  It is loads more stable than the laketroller. I have had and used both.   the laketroller is not a one handed operation. the brake does not automatically engage when you roll it up or after you let it down.  with the 1050 you pull the brake to release it and let go of the brake to stop it. it engages automatically.  to disengage the brake to reel it in, all you do is start cranking and the brake releases. then let go of the handle and it engages the brake to stop it from dropping.  with the laketroller you have to brace it with your knee in order to keep the ball from falling while you tighten the brake.  if you do go with he laketroller, make sure you go with a flush mount.  the raised mount causes a lot of torque and flex making it difficult to reel up and down.  Another plus of the 1050 is you get a line counter which really does help.
