I sort of knew it was going to be slow.  Low was 7:30 am at Half Moon Bay.  High was 2:17 pm.  I got there at 6 am.

Looked like a piece of cake to get down.  I knew it would not be on the way out.  Long story...short...got 2 China's...3 Gophers and 5 Yellow & Black.  Missed a red just right at the Yak that came undone.  I had my net, but forgot about my Gaff.  Good thing there were no lings hooked up.

Nice area for being a newbie to it.  Frankfishing gave me some tips.  But, there were only 3 fts and I finished in 1 hr.

Has anyone tried launching up the road north?  There is just a garbage can and a post there.  North side of the buildings and before the fenced in area.  Why, I asked is because it looks like rocks from the hill are easier to come down the pipe.  You don't have to deal with the two set of breakers on the south launch.  There is a big rock on the left hand side and it seems to me if you slide around that rock you and home free.

I know I hit the Hollow when it was tame.  It would be h*ll in 6 to 9 footers with wind.

I was metering a tons of fish.  It seems like the bigger and better fish had lockjaw.  I was using a Braid Slammer tipped with squid.  Best area was at 40 ft.  I tried a 3 oz torpedo weight and J hook with squid.  The drift was so slow that the fish could take the bait off the hook with getting hooked up.

Using 50 lb braid with a short shot of 40 lb mono.

Good to the Bean at Low Tide.  I know why Frankfishing is so Barry Bonds (4 pitch walk) of it.  OK....maybe not Barry after the All Star Break.  Barry should have been in the Home Run Derby.  Maybe, he would not be 0 for 20, now.

Ken looking at that picture I am not sure you launched from the right spot. Is that the place you launched?

Nice catch regardless!

Yes Bill.  I think I know the other spot now.  I think you guys launch from the north side of the buildings.  The path goes straight down the hill.  This spot had a dog leg down the hill.  But, like I said it was my first time being there and I was solo.  That seems to be the place where Frankfishing told me to launch.  Could be wrong.

I know it would be more hairy during tougher conditions.  But, I still think Linda Mar can be tougher.  When, the waves and wind build there.  You know you are going to eat it on the way in.  Plus you got the surfers in the way and watching the show.  I also wear a white water kayak helmet now.  I think it helps in places with rocks on the bottom.  Aka linda mar and the Bean.

bean hollow is a beach launch, not a rock launch. I did a low tide rock/beach launch at pescadero once.

John,

Maybe I did launch at the wrong place.  It said Bean Hollow.  Small turn around parking lot.  I guess I should have travel south some more.

You would think Linda Mar is a Big beach launch...until you see it a low tide at the spot we all come in on.

OK guys I think I know where I was .  I was at the Bean Hollow South Parking Lot.  I parked just a little north of it. Maybe 300 yrds to 500 yrds before the parking lot.  I think it is still Bean Hollow.  Only I was at the northside of the beach and it was a minus low tide that day.  I could see the staircase heading down from the parking and I was still in the same cove.

The other spot that looked good was Pescadero Point.  That pt is huge and seems to me if you just go from the center of the mouth and then shoot to the right coming in behind that rock.  You are home free.  May have to carry the Yak arcross the rocks.  Is the only problem I see.

But, being my first time there.  Will have to see it all at high tide.
