Hey all,

Looking for a little help from the hive mind.

I've attached a picture, I've broken the little nob I circled, and for the earlier drives with a plastic spine seems like a cheap replacement just the plastic part needs replacing but with the MD180 drives I've only seen full rotating spine assemblies for the V2 md180. which I suppose would be an upgrade?

I like to replace just replace the cover with the nub if there is a replacement part for that.  Otherwise I suppose I should hit up CCK?  Or I'm upgrading to some new fins as well as the spine upgrade.

Thanks for any help guys.

Do a search on YouTube and you'll find video on how to repair Mirrage Drive.

Same thing happened to mine.  It is just an alignment nub, not critical or structural to using the drive. The general consensus I see online is to just use it as-is.  Since it's integral to the body of the mirage drive, I imagine it would be pricey and time consuming to replace.

Mine broke too and I contracted Hobie.  Hobie informed me that it doesn't affect performance and recommends using it as it was.

On the new drives you can’t replace individual parts on that assembly  :smt009

Currently I have a broken gear tooth and I’m just going to leave it for now. I think that assembly is like $300.

I broke that nub before.  I drilled and inserted a stainless steel screw with a nylon sleeve to get a similar length and shape.  Then coated it with liquid plastic.  Has held up well so far.

I don't have a 180 drive, but on my GT drives, I removed that pin as it jus gets in the way, IMHO. As others have said, it certainly has no effect on performance.
I don't like stuff that sucks.

GTK it's not that critical. Wonder how many have actually replaced the spline cause they broke it. Anyone have a 180 spline for sale for cheap?  :smt002
