I purchased a new VHF radio today (Uniden Atlantis 250G) and listened to the power boat chatter all day. Folks were catching lots of silvers with enough Kings mixed in to send several people home with limits. One guy complained that he had caught 15 silvers in 45 minutes and had to go back in for more bait. Fish were being caught about a mile out from the Noyo harbor buoy at depths of 50 (lots of silvers) to 250 feet. I had to work until five and just as we got out to the beach at Noyo harbor to launch a thick blanket of fog rolled in. The water was flat as glass. Tess and I paddled our Hobies out to the second (Red Bell) Buoy but didn't want to go out further in the fog since we only had one radio and one GPS between the two of us. We didn't get any bites but then again we didn't try very hard since we wanted to keep both the buoy and each other in site. The power boats (on channel 10) were still catching salmon when we headed for shore. One guy commented that his thermometer was reading tuna temperatures and that was confirmed by another vessel. They predicted that the next couple days should be very good for salmon close to shore.

Nice report, Asa.  Way to give it a try.  I hope she was out there on the Hobie today!
