Ken:

I heard about the dorado last week, but that was out in the albacore grounds, 30 miles from shore....Very exciting, though.  It was Jim Hart that got it.  Good warm water out there, but inside is still a bit cool, which are fine conditions for a salmon/albacore year.....good "breaks."

Thanks for the calico limit regs...You are tight, the area I was fishing may be in the new MPA rules...I will have to check the map.

Basically it is the kelp bed that butts up to the protected area at the Aquarium.  I think it might be another "doomed" fishing spot.

I was outside the kelp in 55-60 feet of water, doing a stutter troll with a very light "Mister Twister" hairraiser, all white.  SLAMMMM!!!!  So fun!!!!!  Especially with my light spinning rod.  I even lost one fish, my line must have been fatigued or nicked after fighting three of them.

I tried using a heavier hairraiser with a red head after that, and got no hits  (it was all I had in my tackle box that resembled)  No hits= lure don't work or fish took off?  Who knows....but it was over for the day.

Hi Allen,

I don't think the Salmon will be here. It will be a 3 1/2 hrs run out of the gate up north.  Did a few of them last year.  I was going to do a six pack when the salmon were out by Cypress but did not want to deal a $150 hand.
