I got to take a Trident for a spin in the surf yesterday at La Jolla Shores. The wave size varied from ankle slappers to the odd 3-ft beach breaker.

I came away impressed. Although it has less rocker than the P15, which is a solid performer in the waves, the Trident has so much volume up front that it still pops over the top. I lined myself up to be creamed too, but never took a 3-footer to the face or chest. Instead, they rolled under the boat.

On landing, once I was on a broken wave I found it easy to keep pointed toward the beach. It is quite fast too, great for dashing in on the back of a breaker, although as a heavier boat than the P15 it seemed to take more oomph to get it to top speed. Once it's on the move, it's easy to keep it going.

Unlike the P15, the cockpit drains quickly - there's no sluggish snail-like performance when you take a wave.

I like this capable, confident, comfortable kayak. OK has a winner on its hands.

Thanks Pal,

Really Considering this as my " Paddle " Yak,

I like the prowler 15 up in Vancover Island when I borrowed PolePole's,

Looks like they fixed the wet ride and the access with center hatch, very kool,

Not so sure about the depth finder " Compartment " but extra " storage areas are always welcome,

 Keep the reviews coming,

Thanks,     :smt004
