Some of my non-yak fishing buddies wanted to go fishing so we ended up on Quan Vo's boat the Golden Eye 2000.  The GE2k stopped by the bait receiver to pickup live anchovies and were on our way.  I haven't fished the islands since last season so I had to dig up all my diamond bars.  The water was rough up to 10 foot swells and the catamaran constantly bottomed out but handled like a dream when drifting.  After throwing the heavy 16 oz iron for several hours my arm was sore and I reflected on how easy it was to catch the same damn fish from a kayak without the abuse.  I think I'm starting to see the light of the kayak sport.  Let's see it cost less and doesn't abuse your body.  It's tough fishing with iron in heavy seas.  At the end of the day I caught mostly olives some reds and one ling.  I kept thinking about my last trip at Half Moon Bay and how much easier it was.

Hmm, when is the next event?  The Bodega event is starting to look interesting.  Let me check my schedule.

As skippers go Quan Vo is one of the best and the Golden Eye is great. If you fish spectra, you can use lighter jigs although on party boats the deckhands don't like it.
