North SC

Fished Natural Bridges area on Saturday. Pacific was FAC, looked like a tropical paradise at 7:30am. By 8:30 the wind was up, the sheep were out and by 9am I was done. So, when will the wind wait until noon like usual for summer?!!!!
Anyway, I managed one nice red on my first drop with a white swimbait, then a constant scratch of smallish black and yellow RF and gopher RF. Got one underling at about 22". Fish tacos for lunch were worth the early rising.

Thanks PISCEAN. Great report. I gotta get a kayak so I can get out there. Do you ever see people fishing from the rocks at NB? I've always thought about giving it a try but haven't made it over there with my gear yet.

Ya know, I've seen folks fishing from the rocks all along the north coast. I used to live on Coast road just steps away from what the locals call 5 mile, or "piggy beach" and I fished there often but I rarely caught anything. I did best fishing little grubs for surfperch, but when I'd bring my longer surf rod and fish bait for rockfish, nothing. Yet in a kayak I've fished swimbaits in basically the same area and caught numerous rockfish in just slightly deeper water. I did see a guy land about a two foot striper at Panther beach once, years ago. he was using a big white bucktail lure.

The cap. wharf is STILL going, saw two massive stripers pulled yesterday (must have been >20lbs). TL, if you don't yet have a boat, I'd buy live 'chovies over there on the wharf, and fish the surf line there, real shallow. Seems to be the ticket....way to be at NB, Piscean, I've STILL never fished there, an I dunno why, it's so close. We should hit it sometime.
