Fishing the 4th?

Anyone fishing tommorrow? There is a chance I might be able to hit the coast in the morning.

I think avoiding santa cruz would be a good bet due to the crowds.

I went to davenport on Sat with friends to party on the beach.  After walking from the Ocean St. parking and down to the beach several, several times I wonder where you launch from?  Thats a bunch of work to get down to the beach, is there an easier way?

I ususally launch right in the middle of the cove - straight out from the stair way. I'll usually carry my P15 (un - rigged) down to the beach (just below the stairway) and go back and get the rest of my stuff. And then drag the loaded yak down to the shoreline.

Davenport?  Ocean St.??  Seems like a heck of a long walk.  Davenport is a relatively easy launch.  Check the map out.  Not sure you're talking the same Davenport...

Any one fishing Santa Cruz or Capitola? I'm interested in tryin for halibut with rockfish as a plan B. Get in early and fish hard and leave before the beach crowded. I don't think the traffic will be too bad leaving SC.

I think you are talking about the actual davenport beach across highway 1 near the restuarant.  Much easier if you go north a bit to davenport landing road.

If you notice where the cars are parked, you walk down a few paths, few hundred feet of railroad tracks, steep rocky path down to the beach.  Not quite convenient for kayaks, so I was a little confused there

This is Davenport Landing.  Lots of parking, easy kayak portage, easy launch...
