Thanks for the report, makes you want to back doesn't it? Did your hotel or house rental have the kayaks? Our trip was not as great as years past. Cancelled airline,so we got to our destination too late to fish as we planned. We did a panga the next day. We couldn't find the tuna or mahi, so we went back to the shoreline and caught some Sierra, one Jack Crevalle and brought in one Roosterfish.  Was able to kayak the next day but kind of slow, couple of triggerfish and pufferfish. Was able to land a mahi trolling a frozen bait from the panga the day before. Then hurricane Lorena came in, we were'nt able to fish the next day. We lost power overnight and most of the next day when we left, so we weren't able to take our fish home. Hopefully the cleaning lady took it home. Oh well, we'll look forward to next year!
We tried for salmon yesterday at hmb , no luck for us.

Yeah def want to go back.  Sounds like you overcame some tough circumstances to still get on fish.  Nice work.  We had perfect weather, but not too much confidence in what we were doing, but Im sure that will come in time.  The house we stayed at had two serviceable kayaks - one with a missing drain plug which I sealed with some plastic and duct seal that I brought with me.  I had the duct seal for my fishfinder so I could shoot through hull - No need to build a water boat with it b/c I had 2-3 gal of water in the hull after 4 hours of fishing!   :smt044   And they were super wide 10 footers, so the tracking was terrible.  But, they had rod holders and ultimately got the job done.  We did let the owner know that it took on water so someone with less experience will not sink it off shore.  Added some more pics.

Looks like the water was calm for you guys. And you brought a ff? Nice! I was thinking of trying to get one over there but our luggage seems to always be around the weight limit with all the tackle and rods I already bring! Were you north of Buenavista? Looks like you were close to a hotel with a volleyball net on the beach. We're always looking at different Airbnb houses with yaks included.

The place we stayed was on the north end of Los Barilles - a place called Hacienda Del Mar.  Its on most of the rental sites.  Totally great place to stay.  We could walk everywhere, but still had ATVs.  The ff didnt really give us much advantage.  It was pretty entertaining to hit the edge of the canyon outside Los Barilles and have it go from 300 FOW to over 1000 FOW where the return signal wasnt even being picked up.  There were a few times where we would mark a school of fish at 100-200 feet deep and try jigging.  I got one strike, but nothing stuck.  In the end, I could have probably gone without it.  It seems like most of our luck came from fishing the green/blue water boundary and the reefs.
