Great two day trip with Ed.

Thursday - Bite picked up mid morning, and Ed got on a hot one.  He played it like a pro - he's a long time salmon, striper and halibut fisherman from the East Bay.  Got it in the net, and we were off to a great start.  With a king under burlap we were hopeful for more of that action, but only one coho bit for the rest of session.  Filled up the stringers with plenty of bottom dwellers and got wrapped up by dinner time.  I drove home and got gear washed by just after dark.  Posted up a brief report on FB and crashed to be ready for Friday.

Day 2 - Thick fog came down on us for much of the day, and that always adds to the mystique of the Cove!  We made the rounds out to the buoys looking for salmon, but the only biters were rocks and lings.  We weren't shopping for cod, so midday we headed for the halibut grounds where some friends had just landed some shorts and had a thresher ride.  It took us a bit to find the fish, but we ended up with limits on the Cali's.  Ed got a hot thresher ride of his own that was an action-packed 15 to 20 seconds of lightning speeds and aerials - great knot tying validation, as it spit the hooks instead of breaking him off.

We capped off the trip with cold beers at the tailgate fillet station, and then Ed sported dinner at the Gyppo Ale Mill.  Good Times with a skilled sportsman and new friend on my home waters.   :smt001
