Spent the weekend in Weaverville for the 4th and am staying a few days in Arcata with my brother before heading home.  Brought a couple ocean rods and my perch set-up.  Any tips on a good launch spot for halibut or rock fish?  Or a good beach for perch?  Thanks

Trinidad for rockfish.  Eureka marina next to wharfinger for California halibut.  Red tail perch off any ocean beach with surf.  Striped perch, walleye perch, etc. can be found in Humboldt bay near rock jetties and pilings.

Take crash's advice. But I second the bay for halibut. Was out today and got 2 more on the year

Thanks Crash and Doug!  We went to Mad River Beach last night and got into some Red Tails.  We are heading to Eureka now for dinner and plan to check out the waterfront and hit it in the morning.  Strong tides this week, but hope to get a couple drifts in.  We are paddling our Tridents.

Thanks again.  Pictured is my son ColtonCrum, also a member.  He caught both fish in about 15' of water near the bridge.  The morning outgoing was the slow end of the tide and we arrived on the the High tide.  We paddled past the monument for sailors lost at sea out to the bridge and drifted back with frozen herring on a drift rig.  He was set on using the bait.  I had a swim bait and a few jigs, but started with the bait since Colton had tied 2 leaders for each of us the night before.  He caught the larger fish within the first 5 minutes after starting our first drift, so bait it was.  He also got a large red crab and I scratched up a bullhead.
