Woke up early, headed to Half Moon Bay and met up with a buddy using his recently purchased Porta Boat.  First time he used it on the water.  Worked well, seemed sturdy enough, no leaks.  I still prefer my Hobie Outback.

We knew the wind was coming, but this was our last chance for dungeness.  Wind started picking up around 8am, but then it vanished?!  Wind did eventually blow us out at around 11:30am or so.  All good as we were about to call it.  My buddy limited and I netted 8.

Bumped into "Ish with Fish" and he reportedly caught 8 keepers from an overnight soak.  Great guy... hopefully we'll hook up in the future and be able to fish together someday.  All said and done, it was a decent day on the water.  :smt004  Time to focus on lings, halibut, and maybe salmon for the first time ever...  Time will tell...

Patience pays off in HMB... The crabs are always there... Just gotta time the wind, weather, swells, and tide. 🙄

Thanks for the report!

I don’t mean to be a downer, but I hope your buddy knows what he’s getting himself into with that foldable boat. I have read several sad stories about people who got the (in my opinion) crazy idea of using them in the ocean. Glad to see he’s wearing a PFD anyway!
