Ocean Kayaks is leading the way with producing re-cycled kayaks  :smt038

Aquan just got a shipment of a re-cycled Prowler 13 :smt007 (it's the kayak on the middle of the photo)

Ooh...and it's in "pirate black" too.  :smt007  I love my Outback, but I've been dreaming of getting a paddle-yak instead of a peddle-yak for those forays out into the kelp.  As cool as the darker color is though, I think I'll stick with "don't-hit-me-yellow" or "hey-dumbass-PB'er-I'm-right-here-orange".

Kudo's to OK for going green though!

Oh the black is sweet! Not sure if I would want to paddle it in the ocean but it would be great for convert ops on Crystal Springs.

Opps did I just say that?  :smt044

The color is the result of the manufacturing process.  Basically the scraps from normal production are gathered up and mixed to make these yaks.  It actually looks more like a very dark greenish-grey in person, but the color can vary some from yak to  yak.

Nice.  That dark "bay gray" color is perfect for duck hunting.

Aren't other kayak companies recycling too?

I think it's $50 more.

I think there are a couple other kayak companies recycling too or talking about doing it.  Necky and Old Town do it, but they are part of the Johnson Outdoors family (same parent company as Ocean Kayak).

Yeah the grey/black color would make a sweet base for a camo boat.
