I’m just getting into kayak fishing and was looking for an equipment list, with rough price of equipment, that is mandatory for fishing the ocean. I understand life vest and VFD radio. What about wet vs dry suit? Also what are some inexpensive options for all these items as well. Thanks.

You are on the right site for all that kind of info. The safety area and gearing and rigging will be a big help. Take a look in those two sections plus try the search function and you will have more info than you can imagine. If you still have questions I'm sure you will get answers here.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan

read this and some other contents under Safety forum. http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=27534.0
All these questions have been answered repeatedly, the magic answer is to use the search function. If you want inexpensive stuffs, there’s alway craigslist. Cabelas or BPS have some knockoffs pfd that’ll do just fine. Even a cheap Walmart brand will do, anything that’ll keep you floating. A radio however, I would get a good brand.

The wet vs dry suit question has been discussed here a lot, and there is a lot of useful information in those discussions. It really comes down to specifics: what part of the ocean will you be fishing in, how sensitive are you to cold vs. heat, how fussy are you (drysuits are fussier, wetsuits work great for people who can tolerate a range of conditions), and your budget. (There doesn't seem to be any such thing as an inexpensive drysuit, and buying them used is a gamble.)

If you're just getting into kayak fishing, you might want to slow down and do some more research and practice.  Its not just a list of items that's going to get you on the water safely.

Like other members have said, check out the safety section and build your own list first instead of just asking us for a price list of stuff you're going to need.
If you ain't first, you're last.
