Should I tie new leaders?

I have a bunch of fluorocarbon salmon leaders I tied in October that I never used. They've been hanging indoors, away from direct sunlight.
Should I consider them good as new or is it worth re-tying them?

I would use them as is.

from my understanding floro doesnt degrade as fast as mono.  id use it.  but say if it was mono and has turned cloudy in color, i would not use it.

I agree they should be fine to use.

Fortunately it is easy to check any leader you are wondering about: just test it with an appropriately heavy weight (soaking the leader in water first if you want to be super scientific about it). This is worth doing in general: some knots don't hold as much weight as one would hope.

Do the stretch test on every leader you ever use.  You want it to break in your hands - not in a fish's mouth.

Doesn't matter if it's brand new or 10 years old.  Last season I used the last of the leaders my dad tied, and he passed away in 2008.

My Dad is getting up in age. 77 .  I have made it a priority to invite him to some of the events we have. he really enjoys them and is looking forward to Gimme Shelter . He loves the fresh seafood !!!

I wouldn't have a problem with leaders from October. The strength test are a good idea. I think the store bought leaders would be more of a concern. I use to take them for granted until I lost a few fish. Store bought leaders of any kind should always be tested. Nothing worse than finding the end of your line missing a swivel or hook with a curly tail at the end of it.
