Anyway...Ceviche with Tostitos "scoops".

Pictures don't seem to be downloading?

I did take a pic of ceviche...that particular shark did not bite the kayak. It was a 9’ bull shark...who
Had been hooked for 45 minutes and 3/4 mile and he’d warned me twice by full speed ramming before taking a bite. I cut the line shortly afterwards....oh-I’ve got an outrigger on my 13’ Revo-along with a 2.5 horse Suzuki. It’s reslly stable.

5 Mind-Blowing Kayak Fishing Foods

Introduction
Full article here:
http://thelostanchovy.com/5-mind-blowing-kayak-fishing-foods/

It’s been a long day. You have been fishing for 6+ hours in the hot hot weather chasing, halibut, Salmon, Rock fish and god knows what is chasing your from underneath. Then the moment comes, sometime during midday, when the fish have stopped biting.

Your buddy calls you through the VHF radio and says… “Man, you know what sounds good right now?” → Insert Favorite food here. I usually get a chuckle, when this particular fishing buddy says this to me. I know he’s checked out and ready for a nice cold beer and some munchies. I won’t lie, at this point, I’m pretty much checked out too.

There are fishing foods, and then there are these Five mind-blowing kayak fishing foods, that I have discovered over the years. At this point, this article has become an opinion piece; so take it with a grain a salt.   Whatever the reason, these items always seem to hit the right spot after a long day on the water or out on the water.

#1 Watermelon
I’m going straight for the juggler folks. The kill shot, the money shot, the foods of all kayak-fishing foods!! Love me, hate me, here it comes!

WATERMELON

=
Yup, there it is folks → Watermelon.

I will pre-cut watermelon and leave it in my ice cold cooler Yeti 20 or a RTIC.  After getting off the water, I share this sweet snack with my buddies. It’s always a crowd favorite.

#2 Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches
I will admit that I’m a little bias towards this one, mainly because of a particular incident with an unnamed fishing buddy(Antonio you know who).  I was basically dead on the water, from trolling countless hours for salmon. The wind picked up big time and I had less than 10% energy reserves to make it back.

My buddy offered me half of his PB&J sandwich that practically saved my life! LOL.
Either way, this sandwich has held a particular place in this chov’s heart and stomach from that point forward. Yumms!

#3 Vietnamese Sandwiches
Since a kid, I’ve always been drawn to these sandwiches. Disclaimer I’m a Vietnamese and if my family didn’t escape during the war, I’m sure that I would have been anchovy fish sauce by now. → But I digress.

I think over the years my affinity to these sandwiches has grown as fast as my addiction to kayak fishing.  However, with the skyrocketing price of Viet Sandwiches in the Bay Area, I find making my own to be more economical.

My personal preference:
Grilled Pork or Combination Sandwiches!

NOTE: I will be making a limited amount of TLA grilled pork sandwiches over the course of the halibut season. Freshly grilled and made after a long day OTW.  Put in your orders today! =P

#4 Sour Patch Gummy Bears
Ok, at this point, I’m just reaching for material, but I found that these little treats OTW make a great snack and replenishes energy, or maybe it’s one of the staple snacks crazyFisher always brings with him. Either way, it hits the spot when I need an immediate burst of energy.

#5 Ice cream sandwiches
I think you guys are getting the clue. Hot weather → Exhaustion→ cold splurge foods.  I really like these treats after a long day on the water.  I think my personal preference for ice cream sandwiches are it’s It or Klondikes

Conclusion
Ok that is basically all I got.  I’m constantly on the search for new and amazing kayak fishing foods. Let me know if you have accidentally discovered something and share with the community. Good luck and tight lines –TLA

Edited. 3.26.2019

My top 5:
#1&2: Out of Snook, Texas Solvachek Cheddar-Jalapeno Bratwurst, smoked for 2 hours then thrown on the grill for a few minute to crisp everything up on nice Ciabatta Roll with some sauerkraut and German Mustard, washing it down with Ice Cold Shiner Bock

#3 a Egg Bagel sandwich with nice rare roast beef, cream cheese, some horse radish sauce

#4 Bring out the Yankee in me, I love some red chowder with some fried clam cakes from Iggy's in Warwick Rhode Island.

#5 From my smoker, pulled pork sandwiches, with Kev's #1 Sauce on the lower bun, pork,  some coleslaw on top of that , and dosed liberally with Vinegar pepper sauce I got from Amazing Ribs.
