Breaking up & Repackaging Frozen Baits

Hey all, 
I wanted to see if any one wanted to share their tips on breaking up or repackaging frozen baits. I thinking frozen squid, hearing, sardines any tray or block type frozen baits that are frozen together.  I findmyself either giving away or more often feeding the fish unused baits.  If I can pre package what I think I'm going to use for the day or days then I might save some money or at least have the bait hold up as little longer.  All that being said, what are the colective thoughts on salting said baits to keep stiffer or sented? And what baits would you salt?
I know I've met guys on the party boats for salmon that use glitter and such for their rigs.....

For squid I buy the 5lb Sea Wave box and defrost for day or two in the fridge until it's not frozen.   If you break it down into steps it doesn't take too long.  Using kitchen shears to cut the squid saves time.  Then just put in small plastic bags and back in the freezer.  Just grab a little bag before going out.  I also eat a good amount of squid for dinner.

I second the large box of squid, I have run the whole block under warm water, break off what I need and then break it down to 1/2 pound chunk and then into zip locks, or if possible into the Scotty bait jars for Crabbing.

Buy a 5# box of market squid in a store with a butcher shop, (99 Ranch) take it back to the butcher and have them cut it up with the band saw.

A few years ago I did that at a 99 Ranch, held the box up until the guy behind the counter sees me, I ask if he'll cut the box in half on the saw.  Looks like a complete lack of verbal communication. Pretty soon I'm making sawing motions on the box with my hand and pointing at the band saw. Still looks like we're not making any headway. After several attempts I give up say Thank You and start to walk away. Got a couple steps and he starts laughing and says, "So you want me to cut that box in half." He smiles we both laugh.

You end up with some odd shaped pieces but saves time and refreezing deterioration.

I buy them enough for the day and chum the rest at end of fishing trip if any left over at my secret spot   

Well, it looks like these guys only use squid ....
No wonder they dont catch fish .... Lol!!!!
For tray baits,  go to the local grocery store (preferably one you are well known at) ask butcher if you could purchase dozen or so of those foam trays. Devide your trays into smaller trays (6 per tray) brine (or not) and vacume seal.
If done with fresh quality trays like Greys Harbor, you should be able to complete before it totally thaws.
