The temp is suppose to hit 100deg in Modesto by the weekend. So I have friday off and plan on hitting Bean Hollow, or somewhere near there, I should be there by sunrise.

Company welcome

Hi, Craig - Good luck. From Friday's forecast, swells are 5-8ft. Wind could pick up late morning. It seems doable. Wait for your report.

Jeez, I remember those spells when it was "hottening' up in the valley" and we'd head out early to either the coast or the Sierras and wouldn't come home until after dark.  Just had to remember to pack the sweat shirt and long pants even if it was 70 degrees when you left town.  It was either that or turn the A/C god up and rent a bunch of movies.
Sorry, I have some other plans Sat. or I'd give the Hollow a try with you. Good luck, and stay cool.

craig, I might fish friday morning, but right now the forecast is for a lot of wind up the coast, even earlier.

this is the surfline pay-to-view forecast for san mateo coasts. the santa cruz forecast is for much lighter wind.

the last few weeks it has been calm and sunny up there and foggy in santa cruz. but that won't last,
and maybe that is over for now.

if I fish I will just launch from the santa cruz harbour and paddle up to the west cliffs area in 30 to 60 feet.

I will bottom bounce for rockfish/lings/halibut and stop to jig with a swimbait and bucktail teaser
in places that seem fishier.

that is plan A for me anyways.

if  you have a way to bottom bounce and a second jig rig with a 3oz head and fishtrap,
plus a bucktail teaser on a 3/0 hook, you should go home with a limit of blues/blacks/browns
anyways. I have been catching a half limit in a couple hours the last few times out with this
approach.

you can text me or call me on my cell six-five-oh two-two-four twenty-two ninety if you bail on
the hollow and opt for civilized fishing.

Sounds like a plan John, what time do you plan to launch?  I've been wanting to try that area too.

As of today the reports are not favorable with regards to conditions.  The wind has been blowin hard out here since the derby.  Evening yesterday, and today so far have  been better but I would keep an eye on it.

Thanks for the info, sounds like Santa Cruz will be the place to be in the morning.
Now if I can only find my radio, I'll be set to go.
